Bukittinggi is one of the beautiful tourist places in the province of West Sumatra, Indonesia. The city was formerly called the Fort de Kock and the former had also dubbed as Parijs van Sumatra. Bukittinggi city also once the capital of Indonesia at the time of the PDRI (Emergency Government of the Republic of Indonesia) in 1949. The city is the hometown of one of the Bung Hatta proclaimed Indonesia, also known as city heritage with the Jam Gadang, a landmark in the heart of the height, shaped like a big clock Big Ben.
Around the Jam Gadang you can take pictures and you can also hire a Bendi to get around the city of Bukittinggi. Bendi is a typical traditional transportation Bukittinggi, unique bendi is not powered from the engine but interesting horse that has two wheels.
Bukittinggi is at the edge of a valley called Ngarai Sianok. Ngarai Sianok is one of the main attractions. Panorama Park is located in the town of Bukittinggi allow tourists to see the beautiful scenery Ngarai Sianok.
The beautiful Sianok Canyon is a favorite spot for tourists. Sianok Canyon is one of the most impressive sites in West Sumatra, is very very amazing, particularly during sunrise and sunset, and can be best viewed from the Panorama park Bukittinggi or you could also go into the gorge, which is a settlement and paddy field area. In addition to the gorges beauty, visitors can also visit a Japanese bunker (the Japanese bunker is a massive excavation used by the Japanese to hide troops and munitions during WW II) located at the base of the gorge.
Inside the park there is also a cave Panorama hideaway former Japanese soldiers during World War 2 called as a Lubang Jepang Bukittinggi.
Can also be found in Bukittinggi Bundo Kanduang Parks, there should be a replica of Rumah Gadang (traditional Minangkabau house, Bukittinggi) that serves as a museum of Minangkabau culture, Bukittinggi Zoo.
Bundo Kanduang Parks and Fort de Kock is connected by a pedestrian bridge called the Bridge Limpapeh. Limpapeh pedestrian bridge above the road A. Yani which is the main street in the town of Bukittinggi.
